Erin Cald is a singer, songwriter, and music producer based in Maryland. Her career started in 2022, with her debut single, Drive Slow [1], a slow love ballad with lyrics focusing on falling in love with someone out of reach. Later in that same year, Cald was featured on a song titled Insomnia by artist Hayden Forbes on his debut album A Musicians Nature[2](2022). Erin Cald released her own debut album, In The Middle [3] in September 2024.
Born in August 2002, Cald began to pick up her musical talent at a young age from her grandfather, who she says taught her how to sing. Later, she taught herself how to play the guitar, creating her own unique style and sound early on. Erin Cald combines sounds of pop music, and folk music to portray the complex and emotive stories she tells. In an article by Unseen Plays,[4] journalist Tori, aka Rebel wrote that "With her delicate yet emotive voice, Cald crafts a song that feels both intimate and expansive, evoking a sense of timelessness and sincerity." Music
[edit]Erin Cald's first release, the single Drive Slow [6] Which was produced by Hayden Forbes was released on June 1, 2022, features Cald playing on the guitar, Forbes on the Bass, and an uncredited friend on synth and drums.
The singer/songwriter released her second single When We Meet Again [7] nearly a year after her debut, taking her time to get the sound just right. The song was produced by VinceCu, who created a "harder rock" sound than her debut single, to portray the message within the song.
Maybe [8], Cald's third single release and debut production credit, was released on December 4, 2023.
Erin Cald's first multi song release was the EP titled Change My Mind [9] and featured the three songs Fluorescent Lights, Burn, and the title track, Change my mind. In this EP Cald explores her production style, and begins to define her sound, solidifying the Folk/Pop music.
Her debut full length album, In The Middle [10] was released on September 1, 2024, after a two year long writing and recording process. This concept album focuses on themes of love, loss, and the idea of growing up and feeling "stuck" in the uncomfortable place of being a young adult.
