Eric Abraham Curry (May 15, 1993) is an activist, organizer, small business owner, author, and former political candidate from San Francisco, California. Curry ran to represent California’s 11th District in the United States House of Representatives in the 2022 election cycle.
Early Life and Education
Eric was born at St Luke’s Hospital in San Francisco, CA, the oldest son of Perry and Yanira (nee Medina) Curry. Eric grew up with his three younger siblings in San Francisco’s Outer Mission, or Excelsior District. Eric’s father is primarily Irish-Italian and his mother was born in El Salvador, moving to San Francisco when she turned eighteen. Eric’s family has been in San Francisco on his father’s side since 1865, when his great-great-great-great-grandfather Agostino Cuneo immigrated from Genoa, Italy.
Eric attended George Washington High School in San Francisco’s Richmond District. While a student he was a member of the General Service Society, French Club, and Latinos Unidos. During his sophomore year, Eric was briefly unhoused. While unhoused he was a recipient of services at Huckleberry House and Larkin Street Services before moving to Richmond, California, to live with his grandmother for the remainder of high school. The summer before his senior year, Eric was one of twenty finalists selected from a pool of a hundred fifty nominated to participate in the Science and Health Education Partnership’s Summer Internship Program at the University of California, San Francisco.
