Founded by Arūnas Girdziušas in 2020, EnGarde was originally started as a education company IKANDU, VšĮ, based in Lithuania. The company focuses on children’s education and training, as well as offering adult training programs to help individuals gain new qualifications. IKANDU, VšĮ is committed to fostering learning and skill development through innovative educational methods and resources. In 2024, IKANDU, VšĮ expanded by launching EnGarde Games Ltd in the UK, as a startup dedicated to tabletop, roleplaying, collectible card games (CCG), and miniatures games.

History

With over 30 years of gaming experience, Arūnas has accumulated more than 1,000 game scenarios across various stories. In 2008, the decision was made to create a universal game system something like GURPS with adaptable rules, based on the open game license principles and D20 dice mechanics. This unique system allows for easy adaptation to tabletop games, card games, role-playing games, and even computer games.

In 2017, EnGarde: Death Before Dishonor, a pen-and-paper role-playing game, was launched alongside the EnGarde: Britalia and EnGarde: Daglaga collectible card decks. However, between 2020 and 2022, during the COVID period, progress slowed as we had to work remotely, causing delays. In 2023, development resumed, and finally, in 2024, after extensive testing, trials, and corrections, the first rulebook was prepared and published in English.

In 2023, EnGarde GenAI was launched with the aim of creating conceptual images for future games and products. This AI technology will later be integrated into the upcoming EnGarde: XXX PC game, allowing NPCs to dynamically interact with players and recall past conversations for a more immersive gaming experience.
