Background
[edit]The band was announced on the 24 February 2023 through social media. Shortly after, the band announced a run of intimate shows in Glasgow, Manchester and London[5].
Musically, the band have been described as Alternative metal, Extreme metal, Metalcore, and Hardcore punk[1], with Vennart stating “when it came to writing this [Rivers of Heresy], I was just really pissed off and wanted to make music that was as pissed off as I felt. It became a natural thing. Stop trying to write elaborate chord sequences that nobody has heard before or cool melodies or nice guitar chords – just fucking play the most brutal fifths, flattened fifths, perfect fourths. Just things that will slam into people’s faces. Don’t fucking overthink it; just make it as brutal and real as possible. It became clear – this is what Empire State Bastard should have sounded like.”[6]
The band have appeared at many festivals across Europe including 2000trees, Copenhell, Download Festival, Graspop Metal Meeting, Hellfest, and Wacken Open Air[7][8]. They also supported Sleep Token during their 2024 USA tour[9].
