Elizabeth Healey is an English actress, broadcaster and filmmaker. She presented the Al Jazeera medical docuseries The Cure (2013–2016).[1] Her films include Silent Hours (2015) and Across the River (2016). On television, she is known for her roles in the CITV series The Fugitives (2005) and the Syfy film The Hive (2008).
Early life and education
[edit]Healey completed a Bachelor of Science in Physiology and Zoology, a PhD in Neurophysiology and Medicine,[2][3] as well as a Postgraduate Diploma at the Drama Studio London.
Career
[edit]Healey began her career on stage, starring as Emilia in Othello at the Pentameters Theatre in 2002[4] and going on the tour of Marrying the Mistress in 2005. Healey made her television debut with a main role as Lomas in the CITV series The Fugitives. She subsequently starred in the television films Croc and The Hive.[5]
In 2012, Healey began working with Al Jazeera; she would go on to present the network's medical documentary series The Cure.[6]
Healey co-wrote and starred in the 2016 independent film Across the River.[7] She also appeared in Silent Hours, originally a 2015 film later re-released as a television miniseries, and had a small role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Doctor Strange.
Healey presented and directed the documentary I'm Still Here on homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic.[8] She has been a guest lecturer on Cambridge Judge Business School's EnterpriseWise programme.[9]
Personal life
[edit]Healey lives in London.[10] She is married to poet Philip Wells.[11]
