Edwin M. Holden (March 26, 1869 – January 27, 1957)[1] was chief justice of the Idaho Supreme Court from 1933 to 1950.
He was elected to the court by defeating incumbent T. Bailey Lee, in an anti-incumbent wave spurred by the Great Depression.[2]
Born in Ottumwa, Iowa.[1]
He graduated from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1893 at which time he was admitted to the Nebraska bar. Practicing in Nebraska until 1905, he located in Idaho Falls where he was an attorney for 28 years. He became a member of the Idaho Supreme Court in 1933 and served until his retirement. He was a veteran of the Spanish American war serving as a lieutenant in the U.S. Army.[1]
He was a Democrat.
