The Duchy of Wilson was established in 2005 [1] through the purchase of land within the current boundaries of the City of Toronto in the Country of Canada. In 2012, it established its own coat of arms and flag owing to its Canadian, Dutch and Polish heritage. The duchy flies both the flag of Canada and the flag of the Duchy of Wilson. The duchy is loyal to the monarch of Canada, King Charles III.
The first and current duke is Michael, Duke of Wilson and the first and current duchess is Annette, Duchess of Wilson. The Duke and Duchess have two children. They include Lord Alexander, born in 2004, and Lady Abigail, born in 2007. The rights and responsibilities of the duchy would revert jointly to Lord Alexander and Lady Abigail in the event of the death of both the current Duke and Dutchess.
The Duchy recognizes the sovereignty of Canada and as a result, submits to all legal requirements of the Government of Canada, the Government of Ontario, and the City of Toronto including the provision of required taxes. The Duchy is otherwise governed through an executive council with the Duke and Duchess as joint and sole representatives. All residents of the Duchy of Wilson are citizens of Canada.
