[edit]On March 26, 2023, it was announced that Warner Bros. Pictures had acquired the film rights to the novel Drowning: The Rescue of Flight 1421 by T. J. Newman, with Shane Salerno serving as producer through The Story Factory and Newman serving as an executive producer.[1] Paul Greengrass was hired to write and direct the project on November 28.[2] On March 26, 2024, it was announced that Steve Kloves was set to adapt the novel, after Greengrass chose to direct The Lost Bus first.[3]
