Dravidacharya, Shri Ramakrishnan Swamiji (Sanskrit: “द्रविदाचार्य” श्री रामकृष्णन् स्वामीजि, romanized: “Dravidācārya” śrī Rāmakṛṣṇan Svāmīji), is an Indian Vedic scholar, philosopher and teacher (acharya) of Advaita Vedanta.
Early Life
[edit]Known by his appellation of Dravidacharya, Shri Ramakrishnan Swamiji, was born into a Brahmin family Dindigul of Tamilnadu, in 1972. After growingup in Chennai, where he completed his education, he left home at the age of 25 because of the burning desire for Self-knowledge.
Adult Life
[edit]Upon arrival in the Himalayas, he stayed-put in Rishikesh and immersed himself in scriptual study in the traditional manner under Yogiswara Sri Shanti Dharmananda Saraswati Ji, more particularly acquiring a sound grasp over Sanskrit Grammar, Sankya, Yoga, Nyaya, Vaisheshika, Purva Mimamsa, Kashmiri Saivism and the Brihat Prastana Traya (Greater Triple Canon) of Vedanta (Chitsukhi, Advaitasiddhi and KhandanaKhandaKhadya). Under swamiji’s disciple Virakta Shiromani Sri Sarveshananda Saraswati ji, he studied the Prastana Traya (Triple Canon) of Vedanta (Bhagavad Gita, Upanishad and Brahma Sutra with Shankara Bhashya).
Legacy
[edit]Though not interested in teaching, Shri Swamiji, following Guru's instructions started teaching Shastras in Rishikesh, in a simple, traditional, rigourous everyday English / Tamil / Hindi. He published a series of commentaries on the work the great philosopher Adi Shankara. He is teaching under Shastra Nethralaya organsation, which is an organization teaching the shastric system and methodology to learning Vedanta. in a traditional approach through a Guru-Shishya mode of education.
