Lisa (Diz) Glithero is a Canadian educator, who is passionate about dissemination of knowledge in an accessible matter- particularly in relation to children and youth. Dr. Glithero is known for pioneering the Canadian Ocean Literacy Strategy, which is the first of its kind, and is largely accepted as a framework for dispersing ocean knowledge.

Early Life and Education

Lisa (Diz) Glithero has received a B.Sc. from Dalhousie University, CA (1996), B.Ed. (Hons) from Queen's University, CA (2001) (P/J Division; Outdoor Experiential Education Cohort), M.Ed. (Hons) from Queen's University, CA (2004), and a Ph.D. in Education from the University of Ottawa, CA (2015).[1]

Career and Research

Dr. Glithero has been an active member in her community- frequently being referenced as an environmental educator, youth advocate and community innovator.[2] She is currently the National Lead at the Canadian Ocean Literacy Coalition and at the forefront of educating Canadian scientist and the general public on environmental sustainability, specifically in relation to the ocean.[3] As an interdisciplinary educator and researcher, Dr. Glithero co-developed Canada's National Ocean Literacy Strategy, which is the first in the world.[4]
