Dirk Podevijn
[edit]Dirk Podevijn is company historian at Ackermans & Van Haaren, author of several books and historic pamflets and renowned history teacher at the Jesuit school Sint-Jozefscollege Aalst.
Author Career
[edit]Podevijn has written most of his work about Ackermans & Van Haaren, the holding that he is currently working for. Some of his latest works include Ackermans & Van Haaren in Latin-America[1] (2022) and Amar Y Servir: 400 years Jesuits College in Aalst[2] (2023). His work about a well-known florist in Belgium, Charles Vuylsteke, Sr. en Jr. : fine fleur van de belgische sierteelt (1867-1937)[3], published in 1995, was also greeted with a lot of enthousiasm.
Teaching Career
[edit]Podevijn began his teaching career at the end of the 20th century at the Jesuits College Sint-Jozefscollege[4] in Aalst. As of 2022, he is the oldest male teacher at the school and currently he teaches history in the 5th and 6th grade. He is one of the most respected teachers at the school and is known for his jokes, his quotes and his legendary shoewear; Roman sandals with socks. Because of all of this, he is often reffered to as Keizer Dirk, in Dutch, translated in English: Emperor Dirk.
