The band came together while its members were in high school, and they chose their name as a nod to the song "Departure" by Trivium, a major influence in their musical style. Their music draws on elements of metalcore, thrash metal, and melodic death metal, creating a sound comparable to artists like Trivium and Megadeth.
Career Since their formation, Departure has gained recognition in the Northwest Indiana metal scene, regularly performing at local venues and headlining events. One of their standout performances was headlining at Paul Henry’s Art Gallery in Hammond, Indiana. This exposure also led to a feature on the radio show Midwest Beat, further expanding their regional presence.

They cite bands like Trivium and Megadeth as key influences, and their music is noted for its powerful riffs and intense, melodic breakdowns.
