In high school, Weingarten began recording his own bands out of necessity, and eventually was asked to help record the music of his peers, laying the foundation for his collaborative relaxed approach to making records.
While attending Ithaca College, Weingarten attempted to join the recording school but was not accepted. He circumvented this by secretly utilizing the college's studios at night. This hands-on experience, coupled with his work on projects with friends, laid the foundation for his music career.
