Dark and Darker Mobile is a Fantasy Extraction RPG developed and published by KRAFTON. It is a mobile adaptation of the popular game Dark and Darker, offering an immersive experience tailored for mobile devices.[1]
Gameplay
[edit]Dark and Darker Mobile is set in a dark fantasy world where players navigate through various dungeons, battling monsters and solving puzzles to progress. The game features a blend of action, strategy, and role-playing elements, challenging players to manage resources, upgrade their characters, and make strategic decisions to survive and succeed.
Players can choose from one of six unique character classes: Fighter, Cleric, Rogue, Wizard, Ranger, or Barbarian. Each class comes with its own set of attributes and abilities, which shape the character's role and combat strategy.[2]
There are unique gameplay aspects that differentiate the mobile version from the PC version:
- The Village: A space where players can experience and enjoy various convenience features and lifestyle content with the user community, aside from dungeon exploration.
- Merchant Quests: Merchants sometimes give quests to players. These quests can be completed by killing specific monsters in exploration areas or delivering specific items. The progress of quests is shared at the account level.
- The Trade: This feature allows players to trade items among themselves. Trades between players are acknowledged but incur a certain percentage of commission.
- The Collection: This system allows players to register various items upon completion, granting stats. Once an item is registered, it cannot be retrieved, so caution is needed.
- The Forge: "Equipment Enhancement" can be used to enhance the stats of equipment. Various materials and gold are consumed for equipment training, and sometimes the equipment may be destroyed.
- Mercenary System: In addition to other players, you can recruit mercenaries as allies to form a party and explore dungeons together. Mercenaries possess a variety of capabilities, including basic movement and combat skills, the ability to revive fallen characters, and advanced tactics focused on long-range or close-range attacks suitable for their class.
- The Arena: This is a PvP-exclusive mode where players can quickly compete against others using the developed character through 3vs3 team-based battles.
Development
[edit]The development of Dark and Darker Mobile was announced in August 2023[3], following the early access release of Dark and Darker on PC.
Dark and Darker Mobile ran a global beta test from August 1-11, 2024 for players in the United States, Japan, Turkey, and South Korea.[4].
KRAFTON showcased Dark and Darker Mobile at Gamescom 2024, where they announced that global pre-registration was open for Android, iOS, Galaxy Store, and Google Play Games. A launch date has not yet been announced, but is scheduled to release later in 2024.[5]
