Daigo Nishihata (西畑大吾, Nishihata Daigō, born January 9, 1997 in Osaka prefecture.[1]) is a Japanese idol, singer, actor, dancer, radio host, former Kansai Johnny's Jr member and center of the boy group Naniwa Danshi's under Starto Entertainment ( Formerly known as Johnny & Associates).
Career
[edit]When Nishihata was 14[2], his mother sent in an audition resume to Johnny & Associates without his knowledge. April 3rd 2011 he was told by his mother that they would be going to Toys R Us when in actuality she was taking him to Osaka-Jō Hall where auditions were being held, he passed the audition that day. Due to his resume being sent in without his knowledge Nishihata was at first reluctant to work[3], but in 2012 he became a member of Johnny's Jr unit, Sexy Boyz , who were backup dancers for SexyZone. He was in the same year selected as a member of Ae Shounen (Aぇ少年) [4], but then placed in Naniwa Ōji (なにわ皇子) alongside fellow Naniwa Danshi member Ryusei Onishi and current King & Prince member Ren Nagase[5], an additional member, Sota Okamura, was later added and then moved.
On October 3rd 2012, Nishihata, alongside Ryusei Onishi, Ren Nagase, current Snow Man member Koji Mukai and Tōma Kaneuchi, hosted the first ever episode of Maido! Jani~ [6], a variety show featuring Kansai Johnny's Jrs. Nishihata often MCed in Maido! Jani~, being one of the regular members on the show.
Nishihata's acting career began in 2014 when he played a supporting role in Gochisousan as one of the three children of the two main characters[7]
October 6th 2018, Naniwa Danshi was formed[8], a group which Nishihata had been selected as the center for. Nishihata had been informed by his manger through mail a month prior about the selection. While the other members of Naniwa Danshi had to play rock, paper & scissors to choose their member colours, Nishihata and Shunsuke Michieda's member colours were chosen by management. Nishihata made his CD debut with Naniwa Danshi with their first single, Ubu Love, on November 12th 2021.[9][10]
Personal Life
[edit]His Admired Senpai is Kazunari Ninomiya. He began admiring Ninomiya after watching dramas he starred in "Yamada Tarō Monogatari" and "Ryūsei no Kizuna" and thought he was really cool.[11] Even after becoming a Jr he declared his admiration for Ninomiya, calling himself a big fan. [12] In 2016 Nishihata co-starred with Ninomiya in the movie "The Last Recipe: Kirin no shita no kioku"[13] and even went on to appear together in a commercial for a a Nisshin Oillio Group prouduct.[14]
He was in the Track and Field club during middle school and appeared on an segment on "Honoo no Taiikukai TV" called "Johnny's Tracked and Field" where he was a part of a Track and Field team made by Tatsuya Ueda from 2016 to 2017.[15][16][17]
