Maryland Terrapins
[edit]Bauer joined the Maryland Terrapins coaching staff under head coach Randy Edsall in 2014 as a graduate assistant working with the defensive line. Bauer, along with the rest of the coaching staff, was not retained after Edsall's dismissal following the 2015 season.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights
[edit]Bauer was hired as a defensive line graduate assistant for head coach Chris Ash's inaugural season with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights[2]. In his second year on staff, Bauer was promoted to outside linebackers coach.
Towson University
[edit]In 2018 Bauer was hired to rejoin the Towson Tigers coaching staff as the linebackers coach and defensive recruiting coordinator[3]. After the 2019 season Bauer was promoted to defensive run game coordinator and moved to coaching the defensive line[4]. Bauer also was promoted to recruiting coordinator and oversaw all recruiting operations.
Michigan Panthers
[edit]In February of 2023 Bauer was hired by the Michigan Panthers (USFL) to coach the defensive line in Mike Nolan's first season as head coach. In Bauer's first year he was responsible for the development of Breeland Speaks, who lead the league in sacks and was named 1st team All-USFL[5].
Bauer was promoted to defensive coordinator for the Panthers' debut season in the United Football League (UFL) [6]. Bauer's defense held opponents to 17.7 points per game and finished 2nd in run defense and total sacks[7]. The defense had four players named 1st team All-UFL, which was the most of any team[8]. Bauer also coached Breeland Speaks, who was named defensive player of the year in the UFL after leading the league in both sacks and tackles for loss.[9]
Personal Life
