Cogenhoe Primary School is a coeducational primary school located in the village of Cogenhoe, Northamptonshire, England. The school serves students aged 4 to 11 and is administered by the West Northamptonshire local authority.

History

Opened in 1971 [1], Cogenhoe Primary School was Established to provide education for primary aged children in Cogenhoe village and the surrounding area.

In February 2019 Ofsted stated that the school maintained the good quality of education noted at the last inspection. [2]

In 2021 the school was praised for its support for students and parents during the covid lockdown period.[3]

The school converted to academy status in 2022 and joined the Nene Valley Partnership.[4]

In 2023 the school opened a forest school. The forest school was officially opened February 2023 by Steve Backshall[5]

Facilities

The school is a single site building situated on Station Rd, Cogenhoe. It includes seven classrooms, library space, offices. At the rear of the building is outdoor play spaces containing outdoor gym Equipment and a caged Muga pitch.

The main building has been expanded since it was first built to accommodate new offices and further teaching space.[6]

Curriculum

Cogenhoe Primary School follows the National Curriculum of England.

Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular activities include sports clubs, music lessons, and after-school programs.[7]

Student Leadership

The school operates a student council and school prefect system. The Student Council, elected annually, involves students from each year group.

Year 6 students can apply to be Prefects, taking on roles such as House Captains and school ambassadors.[8]

Community Involvement

The school participates in community service projects and collaborates with local organizations like the Northamptonshire Rotary Club and Cogenhoe Bowls Club situated next to the school building.[8]

The school took part in the 2024 EMAT Olympics [9] competing against schools from the Nene Valley Partnership and East Midlands Academy Trust.

The school is regularly inspected by Ofsted, Cogenhoe Primary School was last inspected in 2019 and is currently rated Good.[2]
