Class of ’09 is a visual novel franchise created by SBN3. Set in the late 2000s as the name implies, the series follows a sociopathic teenage girl named Nicole attending a high school, at first in the eastern US in general, but later games put the game’s setting as Fairfax County, Virginia. Unlike many visual novels, the game features heavy voice acting.
Gameplay
[edit]The first game, simply titled Class of ’09, is a visual novel in which the player assumes the role of a self-identified sociopath named Nicole from the beginning of her junior year in September 2007 to her graduation in June 2009. Throughout the game, a T-Mobile Sidekick will show up where the player can make a decision as to how to advance the story, leading to 15 different endings.
The second game, Class of ’09: The Re-up, is a “parallel" set of stories solely set during Nicole's senior year, with seven endings to pick from. The gameplay is largely identical.
The third game, Class of ’09: The Flip side, is a partial retelling of the first game from the perspective of Jecka, Nicole’s best friend. It contains five endings, the least of the series. The gameplay is largely identical to the previous games, with a notable difference being the replacement of the Sidekick with a Motorola Razr. At he beginning of the game, the player can choose between the “School Start” set in April 2008 with two endings, or the “Home Start” set after their graduation in June 2009 with three endings.
