Background Chrissie Edmundson Ott was born on May 25th, 1973 in Alexandria, Virginia. Chrissie was born to Jim Edmundson and Elizabeth Nicholson. She has 3 siblings who include Jennifer Mundy, Kevin Edmundson, and Stephanie Page. Chrissie grew up living in Alexandria, Virginia where she went to West Potomac High School. After graduating from high school in 1991 she would go on to college at the University of Virginia. She graduated from college in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. She later moved to Myrtle Beach where she would marry Erik Ott and have 2 kids Mathi Ott and Christian Ott.
High School In high school Chrissie was a 4 sport athlete playing basketball, field hockey, running track, and cross country. She played basketball and ran cross country for one season. She played field hockey for 2 seasons where she would get selected for the All Patriot District and All Northern Region in 1990 and 1991. In track and field she ran all 4 years. As a freshman she held the record for the 55m dash, 200m, 300m, and 400m relay in 1988. As a sophomore she held the record 55m dash, was a AAA Virginia State Champion In her Junior year she was a State Runner Up in the long jump. She was selected for All Gunston District Field Track and Field honors in 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991. She was selected for All Northern Region Track and Field honors in 1988, 1989, 1990, and 1991. She was selected for All Virginia State Track and Field honors in 1989, 1990, and 1991. She held the district record in the long jump in 1990 and 1991. She was also ranked 9th nationally at the time for the long jump. She was the Fairfax Journal Track Athlete of the Year in 1990 and a Washington Post All Met Track and Field athlete in 1990 and 1991. Chrissie was a part of the Girls Spring track team that won the Northern Region Title in 1991 by winning the 100m, 200m, and long jump at both the Gunston District and Northern Regional meets. That year her team won third in the Virginia State Championships.
Club Track Chrissie was a 1988 Junior Olympic Track and Field Champion for the 100m. In 1989 she won a Junior Olympic Track and Field Championship in the 100m, 200m, and the long jump.
College At the University of Virginia she won a ACC Championship in the 400m relay in 1995. That team that she was a part of held the record for 20 years after the record was broken in 2015. In 1993 Chrissie won the ECAC Championship for the 400m relay.
Coaching After College Chrissie helped found the Myrtle Beach Track and Field Clun in 2009. She would later go on to become the sprint and long jump coach for the club where she would help produce 20 All Americans and 1 National Champion. She would continue to coach until her retirement in 2024.
Masters In 2014 Chrissie was the Southeast Masters Champion in the long jump, 100m, and 200m. She also received All American status.
