  • Comment: It is nearly there, but the tone is still less than neutral. For example, "With a deep interest in Eastern and Western philosophy, he blends traditions with cutting-edge technology to create immersive soundscape, fantastic generative graphics and critical data art" could have been lifted straight from his own website or PR material. It's not enough that one source said something like this, you need to look at the general tone and use more neutral language. MarcGarver (talk) 12:16, 13 November 2024 (UTC)

Education

[edit]

Cheung graduated with a Bachelor‘s degree in Creative Media from the City University of Hong Kong in 2009.[3] Since then, he has become an active artist known for installation art and audio-visual performance. With a deep interest in Eastern and Western philosophy, he blends traditions with cutting-edge technology to create immersive soundscape, fantastic generative graphics and critical data art.[4]

Works

[edit]

Cheung’s installation-based art and audio-visual performances are fundamentally inspired by both Eastern and Western philosophies.[5] He integrates traditional ideologies with imaginary futures to develop immersive soundscapes, generative art, and data-driven works. His artwork critically examines the human condition and the traces we leave behind, utilising technological interventions to explore new mediums and aesthetics that illuminate the interstitial spaces of experience.[4]

The RadianceScape (2015) has garnered critical acclaim and was featured in Ars Electronica, FILE Festival, EMAF and other international art festivals.[6] The live performances were toured in Sónar Festival and WRO Art Biennale in 2017. The project won ZKM – Giga Hertz Awards in 2020. And his calligraphy No Longer Write – Mochiji (2020)  is collected in Taoyuan Museum of Fine Arts and Hong Kong Museum of Art. The ink installation InkFlux (2021) was selected in 24th Japan Media Arts Festival and has been collected by the United Overseas Bank.[7]

In 2022, Cheung was invited to create a kinetic calligraphy installation Waving Script (2022) to be performed in Hong Kong Palace Museum.[8] Inspired by the 20th century ink art master Wu Guanzhong, the Falling Tears (2024), which was designated to the Hong Kong Museum of Art, is a site-specific installation using emerging technology.[9]
