Chatai (Poker Variant)

[edit]

[edit]

Chatai is a poker variant that introduces a unique strategic element to the traditional Texas Hold'em game. In this variant, the flop consists of eight community cards arranged in a square formation, offering players multiple options to form their best hand. The turn and river are dealt as in standard poker.

Overview

[edit]

[edit] Chatai modifies the conventional poker experience by expanding the flop to eight cards arranged around an empty central space. Players can choose one of four sides of the square, each consisting of three cards, to use as their flop. This adds a layer of strategy, as players must decide which side best complements their hole cards while anticipating their opponents' choices.

Card Arrangement

[edit]

[edit] During the flop phase, eight community cards are dealt face-up and arranged in a square formation resembling a 3×3 grid with the center cell empty:

[ C1 ] [ C2 ] [ C3 ]
[ C8 ] [ C4 ]
[ C7 ] [ C6 ] [ C5 ]
  • Top Side: Cards C1, C2, C3
  • Right Side: Cards C3, C4, C5
  • Bottom Side: Cards C5, C6, C7
  • Left Side: Cards C7, C8, C1

Each side offers a different set of three cards that players can choose as their flop.

Turn and River

[edit]

[edit]

  • Turn: One community card is dealt face-up after the flop betting round.
  • River: A final community card is dealt face-up after the turn betting round.

These are dealt and used as in standard Texas Hold'em.

  • Opponent Awareness: Anticipating which side opponents might select adds a strategic layer to betting and bluffing.
