Chamarkhan is a village in the Ranikhet Tehsil of Almora district, Uttarakhand, India.
Like many villages of Uttarakhand, Chamarkhan is situated in a forested mountainous region.
The village has a temple of Golu Devta, a deity in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand believed to be a guardian deity and known for justice, truth and protection. Golu Devta is also prayed as a key deity (Ista/Isht/Kul Devta) in many villages of Kumaon and Garhwal regions of Uttarakhand.
The village has many pine trees, which are believed to be 150 years old or older. These trees are known as the trees of Golu Devta, and it is believed by the villagers that due to the blessings of Golu Devta, these trees never fall upon their homes, which are just below them.
