The Centennial tournament was played in Winnipeg from late December 1966 to early January 1967. The final game was the Canada National Team (the Nats)playing against a powerhouse professional Soviet team. Canada won the game, thus winning the tournament, even though they were predominantly an amateur team. The fans in Winnipeg were on their feet for the majority of the final game. The tournament was repeated the next year with the Soviets winning handily. https://icehockey.fandom.com/wiki/Centennial_Tournament#
