  • Comment: Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Sources says that sources like GameRant and Dexerto are not good for BLPs and states that many of these sources should be "handled with care". More reliable sources with clear consensus for reliability on BLPs would be needed for notability. Remove the unreliable ones. UserMemer (chat) Tribs 15:51, 26 October 2024 (UTC)
  • Comment: This article is far too detailed and cites far too many unreliable sources. This article has a much higher chance of being accepted if you cut down the fluff, and make a barebones article that only cites independent, reliable sources. Noah 💬 23:43, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
  • Comment: Fails WP:ANYBIO - YouTube, Podcasts, interviews with the individual, blogsites (such as Wordpress), IMDb and sites such as Sportskeeder are not acceptable or reliable secondary sources. Dan arndt (talk) 05:35, 24 October 2024 (UTC)

Case Baker, best known by his Internet alias of CaseOh, is an American YouTuber, Twitch streamer, and TikToker. He is known for his livestreams where he plays a variety of video games and engages in comedic interactions with his audience. As of June 29, 2024, Baker has 4.35 million subscribers on both of his YouTube channels as well as over 916 million views.

Early and personal life

[edit]

Case Baker was born on May 19, 1998, in Dallas County, Arkansas to his parents and two brothers. Being raised in a Christian household, Baker was a fan of video games, and played games such as Call of Duty and NBA 2K. He initially worked with his father maintaining lawns but was desperate to choose a different career. After an incident where his credit card was declined, he began livestreaming from his trailer, equipped with gear his mother helped him purchase. Baker currently lives in his trailer in a small town in Arkansas, where he records his livestreams there. He also owns three cats: Kitty, Jinx, and Morris. In August 2024, Kitty was introduced as a code-exclusive pet in the Roblox game Dress to Impress.[2][3][4]

Career

[edit]

Baker began working as a Twitch streamer, playing video games such as Hogwarts Legacy (2023) and Roblox. Baker credits Hogwarts Legacy for helping kickstart his career, in which viral TikTok videos of Baker were created.

Baker gained popularity for his obesity, to which viewers in the live chat feed would make fat jokes and insults based off his body weight. These included food puns with portmanteaus of celebrities, brands or fictional characters, comparing Baker to an obese character and comically exaggerating his weight. One of the most well-known instances of these is when a donated message made a comparison from Baker to a 1x1 Lego piece, to which Baker humorously responded by pretending to ban the viewer.[5] Despite his mock outrage or theatrical expressions of disbelief, Baker has admitted that he enjoys the jokes and even encourages them.

In August 2024, Baker was announced as a new member of Asmongold’s talent agency, Mythic Talent, which was announced on Twitter.[6] Baker was one of the most subscribed Twitch streamers on the platform, having over 60,000 active subscribers.[7] In February during the Streamer Awards, he had over 110,000 average viewers.[8][9] In September, he had over 100,000 active subscribers. Baker currently has over 5.9 million followers on Twitch. In September 2024, Baker was donated $1,000 worth of gifted Twitch subscribers by a user by the online username of "takky2flashy," who had previous donated $11,000 worth of Twitch subs to other streamer Kai Cenat.[10][11][12] Other activities that Baker has done besides is make rankings on different food from his Discord server, open up fan mail from his fans, and react to videos and compilations.

In an interview with Complex, people stated that they thought that CaseOh was the most popular streamer right now alongside IShowSpeed, Ironmouse, and Kai Cenat.[13] Baker had a voice role as a news reporter in the video game Fears to Fathom: Woodsbury Gateaway.[14]

Legacy and impact

[edit]

Baker is said to have an impact for some on body positivity with his weight. Ian Teigen of The Paw Print stated "This self-acceptance is so important to have and showcase in the streaming industry. His comfort shows his viewers that they don’t have to feel ashamed of plus-size bodies, conveying that all bodies are beautiful. CaseOh displays to his fans that there’s nothing wrong with being plus-size and that you should love yourself no matter your weight. CaseOh’s vibrant energy, roaring laugh and entertaining streams display that you shouldn’t let your size stop you from chasing your dreams and being yourself."[15] Baker has collaborated with other streamers such as Sketch and Jynxzi. Baker made a collaboration stream with Jynxzi, traveling to his house in Florida and playing games with him and has also guest-starred on his podcast.[16]

Baker alongside Jynxzi expressed support for Sketch after the online backlash that Sketch received for his OnlyFans content.[17]

Baker was nominated for multiple categories in the February 2024 Streamer Awards ceremony show, including winning the category of "Best Variety Streamer."[18][19] He was also nominated for "Best Breakthrough Streamer" being beaten by Jynxzi, and was nominated for the official Streamer of the Year, being surpassed by Kai Cenat.[20][21]

In 2024, a fan game based on CaseOh was created by developer Borge. The fan game, CaseOh’s Basics in Eating & Fast Food,[22] is based on the indie horror game Baldi's Basics in Education and Learning. The game follows the player character as they are chased through CaseOh's shopping mall filled with fast food brands by CaseOh himself, as the player collects money around the mall to purchase food. The final boss involves throwing salads at CaseOh to weaken him, leading to his defeat. Baker himself played the game on a livestream and praised it.[23]
