The Canada–India diplomatic crisis is an ongoing international incident involving the killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian Sikh cleric and Khalistan movement activist.

On 18 June 2023, Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a Canadian Sikh, was shot at the Guru Nanak Sikh Gurdwara, a temple that he was the president of. Nijjar was an advocate for the formation of Khalistan, an independent Sikh state in Punjab. According to sergeant Timothy Pierotti of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the gunmen involved in Nijjar's killing waited an hour.[1]
