Buy Now: The Shopping Conspiracy is a documentary directed by Nic Stacey about consumerism in the United States which debuted on Netflix released on November 20, 2024. The film discusses the psychology behind encouraging consumerism, and the negative consequences as a result.[1] [2] [3]
Synopsis
[edit]The film explores the manner in which companies such as Amazon influence consumers into purchasing goods they may not need, and how those goods are often discarded or wasted. The concept of "green washing" is discussed, where companies purportedly mislead consumers with labels implying an item is eco-friendly or recyclable, when it, in fact, is not.[4]
