Buster Bubbles is a 2009 ticket-redemption arcade made by Innovative Concepts in Entertainment (ICE) and produced by PlayMechanix. The game features a playful cartoony dancing squirrel named Buster, and players must help him pop as many bubbles as they can within the time limit by touching the game screen.
Gameplay
[edit]The central character of the game features an animated squirrel named Buster, and he loves to play! The goal of the game is to pop as many bubbles as you can within the time limit while Buster does animated dance moves to win tickets. The start of the game features a night to day scene and Buster waking up, before the player starts popping bubbles, with some bubbles containing powerups to help them win more tickets or simply make the game more fun. The end of the game shows Buster holding a sign with how many tickets you win, before the sun sets to night and Buster goes to bed.
Story
[edit]After the required amount of credits are inserted, the screen switches to a nighttime scene with a field overlooked by an animated yellow crescent moon that sets shortly after. Soon, a squirrel with a blue tanktop with a “B” initial wakes up, with that squirrel being Buster! As the animated sun rises, Buster yawns with the cockerel crowing in the distance before transitioning to a playful personality. The game instructor will then tell the player to touch the screen to pop the bubbles, and the game starts. As the game starts, bubbles begin to appear and Buster begins to dance. Some of the bubbles contain powerups (which are listed below) for extra play, and the game instructor will either compliment you or tell you to keep going. After the time runs out, Buster will pick up a sign with how many tickets you won, with the game instructor complimenting how you did, before Buster puts the sign down with the sun setting, and the same yellow crescent moon rising, indicating night as Buster becomes sleepy and yawns, falling asleep shortly after, ending the game.
Powerups:
- Smart Bomb - Bubble with a bomb. When popped, the bomb will trigger a huge explosion, popping all bubbles on the screen, and turning a confused Buster black as he gets covered in ash before running away shortly after.
- Freeze - Bubble with a snowflake. When popped, all bubbles on the screen are frozen in ice, and Buster shivers as he gets covered in ice and his face turns white before running away.
- Buzzsaw - Bubble with a buzzsaw. When popped, a buzzsaw shaves off a surprised Buster’s fur, and pops all bubbles in its path, before Buster walks away from the screen smiling nervously.
- Extra Time - Bubble with an alarm clock. When popped, an alarm clock loudly rings before adding more time to play, but forcing poor Buster to cover his ears.
- Double Bubble - Bubble with the initials “DB.” When popped, the bubbles turn gigantic as a shocked Buster watches, before collapsing.
- Pepper Sneeze - Bubble with a pepper shaker. When popped, Buster gets allergies, causing him to sneeze, popping all the bubbles on the screen.
- Busy Bee - Bubble with a bumblebee. When popped, two bumblebees appear on the screen, one popping bubbles in its path, and the other stinging Buster on the nose.
- Bubble Rush - Bubble with the initials “BR.” When popped, an entire rush of bubbles comes, floating Buster in the air and allowing you to pop many bubbles.
