"Bright Lights"[1][2] is a song by American rock band The Killers. Written by the band members and produced by Shawn Everett and Jonathan Rado.[3] It was released as their forty-second single.

The pop-rock band released “Bright Lights”[4][5] the morning of the opening day of the San Francisco festival on August 9, 2024, the same night as the band's performance at 8:25 p.m. on the Lands Ends Stage at Golden Gate Park.[6]
"Bright Lights" is the first studio recorded song featuring all four members of the band since their "Wonderful Wonderful"[7][8] album in 2017.
First live performance
[edit]To celebrate their 20-year anniversary[9][10] of their greatest hits album "Hot Fuss"[11] (2004) The band will preform their hit album "Hot Fuss" along with their new single "Bright Lights"[12] on August 14, 2024 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.[13] It will end on September 1, 2024.
Music video
[edit]The music video was directed by Micah Bickham and was published on YouTube on August 9, 2024. The video shows Brandon Flowers, (lead vocalist) Dave Keuning, (lead guitar) Mark Stoermer, (bassist) and Ronnie Vannucci, Jr. (drummer) on stage singing "Bright Lights".[14] Flowers, dressed in a red suit jacket and pants preforms the song "Bright Lights"[15] on the stage. The Killers' logo is lit up on the wall behind him. Later in the video, four female backup dancers/vocalists in black dresses come out and sing and preform behind Flowers.
Bright Lights album
[edit]In 2023, The Killers were working on a new studio album, their album since "Pressure Machine" (2021) and their single "Boy". (2022) Halfway through recording the band's upcoming eighth studio album, Flowers decided to scrap it due to it not being "authentic"[16] and make more music like their most recent album, "Pressure Machine". In an interview with England's The Times newspaper, Flowers said, “Halfway through recording I realized, ‘I can’t do this,’ This isn’t the kind of record… I think this will be the… I don’t think you’ll see us making this type of music anymore.”[17][18] Thus scraping the album, keeping their singles, "Bright Lights", "Boy", and two other songs that appear on their second greatest hits compilation, Rebel Diamonds. The band also released a fourth song that would have been on the eighth album, We Did it in the Name of Love. This song however was only released on social media and YouTube up to this point.[19][20]

Awards
