Brian Maurice Cooper was born in 1938 in Hackney, London. He attended Hackney Downs Grammar School and at the age of 14 was one of the select winners of the Sunday Pictorial National Children's Art Competition. At the age of 16, he gained early entry into the Northern Polytechnic Architects School of Architecture and at the age of just 20 he passed his Architectural Finals with an Honours Diploma.
Career
[edit]He began his architectural career initially with Joseph Mendelson and Carl Fisher but then spent twenty years working at TP Bennett & Son.
Whilst working at TP Bennett as a senior designer, he was involved in numerous projects involving offices, hotels and banks. This included being a competition finalist of the Northampton County Offices in 1973. He was also involved in planning and contract management as well as interior and furniture design.
In 1982 he established his own successful private practice in North West London and worked as architect and residential consultant until 2001.
Artwork
[edit]His interest in linear and panel work began in 2001 with semi sculptural wall constructs from 2022 onwards. Inspired primarily by Frank Lloyd Wright's geometric wall panelling designs, an unbroken development now culminates with 'CONSTRUCTS'. These are a series of geometric panel art forms complete with what is believed to be an original trademark surface treatment. Painted, varnished, or plain mdf board with timber back framework, these are original, perfect showpieces for both residential and commercial display.
