Bishan singh Born and educated in village Khachariyawas, Sikar (Shekhawati region), now late, he was a well-known teacher of Rajasthan, teacher-leader, younger brother of Indian Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, who after retirement from government joined journalist-poet Karpoor Chand Kulish's daily newspaper Rajasthan Patrika and for a long time regularly wrote about the history of every big village of Rajasthan and its current condition in his popular column 'Aao Gaon Chalen!'
A research student of Jai Narayan Vyas University, Sachin Batra, wrote a book on the life and journalism of late Bishan Singh - Shikshak Neta and Jhojharu Patrakar - Bishan Singh Shekhawat. Sachin did research on Bishan Singh ji's teaching life and his permanent column Aao Gaon Chalen, which highlighted the problems of every village, including news and articles during MA Journalism and Mass Communication and it was published as a book. This book was released by the then Governor His Excellency Anshuman Singh Ji as well as former Chief Minister of Rajasthan and Leader of Opposition Hon. Bhairon Singh Shekhawat Ji on 10 June 2000 at Raj Bhavan, Jaipur.
This book describes the principled, hardworking and simple life of Bishan Ji. Along with this, the leadership ability of late Bishan Ji has also been highlighted in the book that how he established a huge organization like Rajasthan Teachers Union by integrating small teacher unions and paved the way for solving the problems of teachers. It is told that while working in journalism after teaching life, Bishan Singh Ji, through Rajasthan Patrika, gave a platform to the problems, characteristics and challenges of the villages and recorded history in his articles by traveling to thousands of villages in Rajasthan.
It is worth mentioning that late Bishan Singh Shekhawat Ji's son Dr. Bhupendra Singh Shekhawat is running Shri Bishan Singh Shodh Sansthan in Jaipur. In which programs and research based on late Bishan Ji are promoted. Similarly, Bishan ji's eldest son Mr. Jitendra Singh Shekhawat is also weaving history by following in his father's footsteps. Jitendra ji also dared to carry forward his father's record by writing his permanent column Heritage Darpan in Rajasthan Patrika for more than two decades. Till now, he is also regularly highlighting the historical importance of Jaipur and the forgotten important events, incidents and works.
