Bhagaban Das Mahato
[edit]Bhagaban Das Mahato (born 1936) is a renowned Indian writer, educator, and cultural advocate from West Bengal. He is recognized as the first writer or pioneer of Kurmali Language & Literature .
Early Life and Education
[edit]Bhagaban Das Mahato was born in 1936 in Singpura village, East Singhbhum, Jharkhand. He hailed from a humble farmer family. Mahato received a scholarship awarded by DPI (Government of Bihar) at the secondary level. He graduated from Bihar University and earned his postgraduate degree in Philosophy from Ranchi University. Additionally, he obtained his B.T. from the University of Calcutta and received educational training from the Bureau of Psychological and Educational Research.
Career
[edit]Bhagaban Das Mahato taught for 35 years at Jhalda Satyabhama Vidyapeeth in Purulia. During this tenure, he developed a deep connection with the Kurmali language. He is the first who organised a platform for Kurmali language and literature. His passion for promoting Kurmali language and culture led him to publish the Kurmali newspaper "Manbhum Express" in 1982, which is recognised as the first written work in Kurmali Language.

Achievements
[edit]Bhagaban Das Mahato's contributions to Kurmali language are significant. He Published the first Kurmali magazine "Manbhum Express" (1982) and recognised as “the first writer of Kurmali Language & Literature” . He Promoted Kurmali language through teaching and writing. He Featured in "Lok Sanskarti Manbhoom" (edited by Bharat Mahato).
