Ben Greer, born Bernard Eugene Greer (December 4, 1948), is an American novelist, poet, and playwright. He was born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and raised in the nearby community of Glenn Springs. He attended the University of South Carolina, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English, and later attended Hollins College, earning a Master of Fine Arts. He published his first novel, Slammer, at the age of 26. He taught at the University of South Carolina for 33 years.[1]
