Belly of the Beast is an upcoming biographical crime drama film directed by Andrew Haigh and co-written by Alexis C. Jolly. It depicts the unlikely friendship between renowned writer Norman Mailer and convicted criminal Jack Henry Abbott. It stars Ben Stiller and Colin Farrell, who also serves as producer. It is based on the book Jack and Norman by Jerome Loving.

[edit]In January 2024, it was reported that a biographical drama film about the life of renowned writer Norman Mailer was in development, with Andrew Haigh directing, who co-wrote the screenplay with Alexis C. Jolly. Ben Stiller and Colin Farrell joined the cast as Norman Mailer and Jack Henry Abbott respectively. Principal photography is scheduled to begin in New York City.[1][2] Farrell and his sister Claudine will serve as producers under the Chapel Place banner alongside Alison Rosenzweig and Michael Gaeta for Village Roadshow Pictures; mk2 films will handle international sales while Village Roadshow Pictures will sell domestic rights with UTA Independent Film Group and CAA Media Finance.[3]
