BeMe is a teen mental health mobile application co-founded by Dr. Nicki Tessler and Mandeep Dhillon in 2021 under the company name BeMe Health.[1]
The main features of the app, according to the app's description in the App Store, BeMe offers teens mental health content, coaching[2], self-guided activities and telehealth support. To better support digitally native teens around their emotional and behavioral health, BeMe established a Teen Advisory Board to collect insights from representative teenagers on the way they want to be engaged and helped.
The BeMe app was first released in 2022 on both Google Play and the App Store.
Partnerships
[edit]In October 2021, BeMe announced that they had raised $7 million in seed funding[3] from Polaris Partners and Flare Capital Partners. In March 2022, BeMe announced a $1.4 million dollar investment from the California Health Care Foundation to support teen mental health and Spanish-language content for Latino/a teens.
On November 1, 2021, BeMe announced a partnership[4] with Molina Healthcare of California to provide Molina Medi-Cal members, ages 13 to 19, with access to digital tools, content, and live coaching support.
In March 2023, BeMe announced[5] that they had entered a partnership with CareSource Indiana to provide teens enrolled in Indiana’s Hoosier Healthwise coverage access to the BeMe app's digital mental health support and interventions.
Stanford Evaluation (2023)
[edit]In collaboration with Stanford University, the app recorded the engagement and outcomes of roughly 13,000 users. The study found that the BeMe app[6] has a positive impact[7] on young people's lives. The study was published in the Journal of Medical Internet Research mHealth and uHealth[8]. It involved approximately 13,000 users and was conducted in collaboration with Stanford University School of Medicine.
