Bala M. Bello is a Nigerian banker. He is a Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria. He was appointed by President Ahmed Bola Tinubu in September, 2023[1] and confirmed by the Nigerian Senate on 26th September, 2023.[2] He is the Deputy Governor in charge of Corporate Services[3] of the Bank and is also a member of the Board of the Bank[4] and its Monetary Policy Committee.[5][6]
Education
[edit]Bala obtained a Bachelors Degree in Accounting and an MBA from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. He also attended and completed the High Potential Leadership Program (HPLP) at the Harvard Business School.[7] He was conferred with a Doctor of Business Administration (Honoris Causa) by the Commonwealth University in conjunction with London Graduate School and a Doctor of Philosophy (Honoris Causa) in Leadership and Management by the ESAE University, Republic of Benin.[8]
Career
[edit]Bello was appointed as Executive Director and member of the management team of NEXIM Bank in 2017.[9] He was reappointed in 2022 for another five-year term[10] before his subsequent appointment as Deputy Governor at the Central Bank of Nigeria.[11]
He is involved in philanthropy in Nigerian communities.[12]
