Backseat Driver is an American hard rock band from Clifton, New Jersey formed in February 1989.[1] They were very active in the New Jersey and New York City rock scenes, and opened for the Ramones in 1991.[2] They disbanded around 2000 and reformed October 2023.
Their debut album Blackout was released in 1990, unmistakably heavy metal in genre. It was released as a vinyl LP and cassette.[3]
Backseat Driver's second album, Son of the City (1997), features more of a sleazy rock 'n' roll sound reminiscent of AC/DC and Circus of Power. It kicks off with "No More Rock 'n' Roll," a tribute to the late Johnny Thunders, followed by title track "Son of the City." The album features two covers, "What Gives You the Idea That You're So Amazing Baby?" by Crazyhead and "Ugly" by Pop Will Eat Itself.[4]
