Austin Stambaugh is an American folk musician, storyteller, and songwriter from LaGrange, Ohio.
Early Life
[edit]Austin Stambaugh was born in Elyria, OH on March 13th, 1995. He attended Lorain County Community College where he met his mentor, American poet Bruce Weigl. In 2019, Austin Stambaugh moved to Nashville, TN and got a job as a bouncer at the honky-tonk Robert's Western World, where he became known as "The Singing Doorman".[1]
Career
[edit]Currently based in Nashville, Stambaugh is affiliated with the punk and folk label Anti-Corp Music, where he writes and records music while working various blue-collar jobs and touring the U.S.A.

Critical Reception
[edit]His 2023 studio album, Midwest Supernatural, co-produced by Benjamin Tod of Lost Dog Street Band, received acclaim for its blending of pedal steel guitar, fiddle, and minor-key melodies. The album has been noted for its introspective lyrics and the evocative portrayal of rural life. [6] [7] [8] Austin Stambaugh's work has been called “timeless and nuanced,” by Lilly Hiatt who wrote “enjoy with the lights low.” Folk pioneer Tim Easton wrote “Austin Stambaugh is the best flatpicking songwriter you’ve never heard of, and I’ll stand on Steve Earle’s coffee table in my Redwing boots and say it.” "Nashville New Music" review of his album Midwest Supernatural described it as "an authentic portrayal of Midwestern life", noting the album’s blend of instrumental dreamscape with narrative-driven lyrics.[2]
