Augustina Austin (born 1989) also known as MS.ABA is a Dutch-Ghanaian television presenter, radio personality,[1] singer-songwriter,[2] moderator,[3][4] and businesswoman.[5]
Background
[edit]Augustina Austin was born in 1989 in Delft, Netherlands. Her parents descent from Bekwai, Ghana. She is from Ashanti, Ga and Fanti ethnicity. She attended Rotterdam University of Applied Science. She graduated with a BSc in Communications in 2014.[6][failed verification]
In 2009, she came on the limelight in The Netherlands and Ghana after she was crowned as "Face of Ghana Holland 2009" and she also won an added title of "Miss Elegance 2009".[7][unreliable source?] A beauty pageant in the Netherlands established to promote Ghanaian heritage in the Netherlands.[7][unreliable source?]
Career
[edit]MS.ABA began her career in 2011 as writer and blogger when she founded her own blog: Abina Online, where she published on issues affecting young African descendants in Europe.[8] She then started working for This is Africa/Ghetto Radio as a contributing editor.[9][10]
In 2018, Augustina auditioned to be a presenter on Hiradio in Amsterdam where she started her work as a presenter and broadcaster and she was presenting a fashion show in 2009. She is the producer and presenter of Africa on Focus, Women about Business and My Girlfriends radio shows. In 2019 she nominated as Europe based Radio/TV Personality of the Year by Ghana Music & Arts Awards Europe[11] and was awarded Best Radio Presenter of the year by the Swedish based Afro Diaspora Influential Awards.[12][13]
Augustina started her music career joining various talent shows in Rotterdam, The Netherlands as an R&B/Soul artist. In 2014 she released her debut single Shero[14] then in 2020 she release her debut E.P called Rooted followed by her sophomore E.P titled Like Gold.[15]
Augustina founded a communications company called BYAustin in 2016 and she is also known as an activist for the Ghanaian community in the Netherlands through which she has been recognised several times for her initiatives in the Netherlands. Augustina has been appointed as a board member for Young Ghanaian Professionals, Ubuntu among other charitable organisations. In 2019, Austin was recognized as African Woman driving change and was invited to do a Hague Talk[16] by Hague Talk Peace and Justice. [17][18][19]
