Dr. Asif Naimur Rashid is currently serving as the Chief Business Officer (CBO) of Grameenphone[1]- a Telenor subsidiary and a Mobile Operator in Bangladesh. He has been working in the ICT & Telecom industry for over two decades, leading key business & digital transformation programs.
In his personal life, Dr. Asif, an avid traveler, is married and blessed with three children.
Education
[edit]Dr Asif has received advanced knowledge on digital technologies from MIT Sloan School of Management, INSEAD Business School, Harvard Business School Executive Education, National University of Singapore, which he attained. He also possesses an MBA on Executive Management from Royal Roads University, BC, Canada, a Master of Engineering Studies degree from UTS, Australia and a Bachelor of Science (with honours) degree from Dhaka University in Applied Physics & Electronics.
Career
[edit]Aside Grameenphone, he has worked as the CIO for Robi Axiata, as the Founding Managing Director of Robi's 100% owned subsidiary, Red.Digital and in key roles in Telenor Myanmar, Telenor Group, Telenor India, Siemens and Mentors' Technologies- home and abroad. He specializes in running large, complex, cross-border telecom and ICT ambitions involving solution portfolio diversification, new digital platforms and business models, IT & business transformation and M&A. He regularly speaks at national and international technology events[2] on Cloud, IoT & 5G adoption for emerging countries, applied AI & API marketplaces for telecom, and 4IR potentials. He has been in the advisory board of Futurenet Asia since 2023.[3]
Dr Asif has received many awards for his work, including the 'CBO of the Year' award in 2023.[4] In 2021, he has been awarded as the winner of APAC Top 7 Technology Leaders by the APAC-based media company W.Media[5] for his contribution in setting up Modular Data Centers in the region.
