Draft:Armorial of the House of Windsor
This draft needs to be updated. Please help update this draft to reflect recent events or newly available information. Relevant discussion may be found on the talk page. |
The House of Windsor was formed in 1917 through a proclamation by King George V. The agnatic descendants of Albert, Prince Consort & Queen Victoria form a branch of the House of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha, while those of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh & Queen Elizabeth II are of the House of Glucksburg, though use the name Mountbatten-Windsor in reference to the Battenberg family to which Philip's mother belonged.
Arms of Dominion
[edit]British Isles
[edit]Elizabeth II changed the depiction of the royal arms to use St Edward's Crown instead of the Tudor crown, and include a compartment of grass behind the motto scroll. After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, in September 2022, the new King Charles III returned to using the Tudor Crown, but in an updated version.
