Ardó (Hungarian pronunciation: [ˈardoː]) is an old Hungarian masculine given name that has been shortened from the archaic occupational name "erdőóvó" meaning "forest protector" or "protector of forests" to a place name and a personal name[1].


This name is qualified by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences Research Centre for Linguistic as suitable for registration in the birth registry[2].
