There are also many fun facts about diamonds. The word diamond comes from the Greek word adamas meaning "invincible" (History of the Diamond as the April Birthstone). The color of a diamond depends on the impurities present, and blue diamonds contain boron "B" (History of the Diamond as the April Birthstone.). Most diamonds today are lab-made or artificial (The meaning of the April birthstone), and they are often given as gifts for the tenth, twentieth, sixtieth, and seventeenth wedding anniversaries (April's birthstone: the Diamond Upon a Diamond). Diamonds are formed within the Earth's crust under heat and pressure, rising at many miles per hour through lava (Forevermark). There are also facts about blood diamonds, which come from many countries and are named after being mined in many war areas in Africa (WC editorial team). Blood diamonds are mined by kids, women, and men and sold on the black market (wc editorial team). They are illegal in the U.S. and many other countries (The meaning of the April birthstone). Finally, there are many types of diamonds, and they can come in all shapes and sizes. The Cullinan diamond is the largest in the world, weighing 3106 carats, and is worth approximately two billion dollars (Capetown Diamond Museum). The second-largest diamond in the world weighs 945 carats and is worth five million dollars (Capetown Diamond Museum). The diamond density is 3.5-3.53 g/cm3, and its hardness on the Mohs scale of hardness is 10 (Mohs Scale of Hardness). Diamonds are truly fascinating gems, and their popularity has only grown. Today, diamonds are available in many different shapes, sizes, and colors and are often given as gifts for significant milestones like anniversaries or birthdays. Whether you're interested in their history, folklore, or simply their beauty, there's no doubt that diamonds are a valuable part of our world.
