Biography
[edit]Anton Burykin was born in 1847 into a middle-class family in Minusinsk. He received a good home education, after which he went to further study, first in Moscow, graduating from the university with a degree in geology.
From 1871 to 1883, he worked as a researcher at the Moscow State Institute and traveled to central Siberia with projects on local geology and mineralogy together with his spiritual mentor, amateur geologist Maxim Alekseevich Antonovich .
In 1883, he received a large inheritance from his father and, together with his common-law wife, moved from Moscow to the family estate near Minusinsk. There he was mainly engaged in writing scientific papers and traveling throughout the province, for example, describing his own ascent of the Krasnoyarsk Pillars in 1885.
After the sale of his distillery in 1912, Anton Ivanovich moved to Krasnoyarsk, where he lived in old age, occasionally consulting local geologists and raising two sons.
Anton Burykin died in 1913 from pneumonia, which became a complication after catching a cold while hunting.[1]
Burykin Distillery
[edit]After receiving a large paternal inheritance, Anton Ivanovich thought about the possibility of a profitable investment of the recently received money and his gaze fell on the production of vodka, which was always in demand. After extensive preparation and investment of a large amount of funds in the creation of a manufactory,in 1901 the Burykin distillery started operating in the village of Kuragino.
The factory grew in production rates and, accordingly, in revenue, spreading not only to Minusinsk, but also to the whole of Krasnoyarsk as a whole.
In 1912, after the discovery of Anton Burykin's health problems, Anton, already in his old age, decided to sell the factory. The buyer is a certain Vasily Petrov, under whose leadership, the factory, albeit in a smaller size, existed until 1917, until it was in disrepair after the Bolshevik revolution.
As of 2024, there are brick ruins on the site of the former workshop of the plant, which are gradually being dragged away by local residents for their farms.
