Ansgar Nierhoff (Meschede, october 1 1941 – august 2 2010) was a German sculptor.
Life and work
[edit]Ansgar Nierhoff entered a study to become a mason in 1960 and completed this study in 1964 with the Gesellenbrief in Frankenberg (Eder). From 1964 tot 1969 he studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf. Among his teachers were Joseph Faßbender en Eduard Trier. In 1965 he moved to Cologne.
Nierhoff took part in documenta 6 in Kassel in 1977. In 1983 he had worked for a periode in the art studio of the American artist George Rickey in New York. In 1986 Ansgar Nierhoff became a visiting professor at the Gesamthochschule Kassel. From 1988 to 2008 he was a professor at the Johannes-Gutenberg-Universiteit in Mainz.
Ansgar Nierhoff lived and worked in Cologne until his death in 2010.
