Andrew Scott (born 21 December 1967) is a British entrepreneur, investor, and business advisor. He is the founder and CEO of the Ascot Group, a conglomerate encompassing several companies in marketing, technology, media, and property sectors.
Early life and education
[edit]Scott was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland. During his childhood, he survived the Abercorn Restaurant bombing, which led to five years of recovery. His family endured further hardships, including his brother being injured in a car bomb attack and his father's death under unclear circumstances. At the age of 18, he moved to London, determined to overcome these challenges and build a successful career.
Career
[edit]Scott began his entrepreneurial journey at 19 with his first business. In 1998, he led the turnaround of a distressed manufacturing company, growing its annual revenue from £1 million to £12 million within four years. This success culminated in the company’s sale to U.S. Fortune 500 firm Masco Inc.
In 2004, he founded Purplex, initially as a business consultancy. Over two decades, Purplex expanded into a global marketing agency and now operates as part of the Ascot Group.Today, the Ascot Group employs nearly 100 people and operates across marketing, technology, media, events, property, and private equity investing.
Scott’s media presence grew when he founded Business Leader Magazine, which connects over 100,000 UK entrepreneurs. The company was sold to businessman Richard Harpin in 2023. This sale to Harpin, who is known for founding Homeserve PLC, adds credibility to Scott’s long-standing success and growth in the business sector.

Philanthropy and mentorship
[edit]Scott is involved in various charitable activities and serves as a trustee and Board Director of the homeless charity Somewhere to Go. His companies have established a ‘giving back’ programme, offering employees one day per month to volunteer.
Scott has also mentored over 1,000 small and medium business owners through public speaking and business advisory roles. He regularly speaks at conferences and events on business and marketing topics.
In 2017, Scott was awarded the Institute of Directors (IoD) Award for Corporate Social Responsibility in the South West region. [7] He has served on the Board of the Clifton Club and is an Ambassador for the Home Grown private club for entrepreneurs.

[edit]Scott resides in Weston-super-Mare, UK. He is known for reacquiring and restoring his old BMW, a symbol of his early career struggles, which he now uses as a mentoring tool to demonstrate how overcoming setbacks can lead to success.
