Andreas Bettinger, also known by his stage name of B.S.o.D. which stands for "Black Son of Darkness", is a multi-instrumentalist German musician and visual artist.

Grausamkeit

Grausamkeit is a one-man German black metal/dark ambient music project from Bischmisheim [de], Germany. It was started in 1995 by Andreas Bettinger (B.S.o.D.) who has been the sole member of the band. The word "Grausamkeit" is German for "cruelty".

Andreas recorded most of band's demo tapes with his then-wife Sandra Bettinger. Sandra, who performed under the stage name Melse, herself had a music project of her own known as Blod Besvimelse (Norwegian for "blood fainting") which featured Andreas on as a session member and ghostwriter. The couple divorced in mid-to-late 2013 and Sandra Bettinger died in November of that year, reportedly of a heroin overdose.[1][2]

Andreas Bettinger is notorious for his long history of brushes with the law, claiming to have 147 criminal offenses on his police record. The grand majority of these offenses were drug-related although there had been at least one instance where he was convicted of violence and another where he was charged with incitement to hatred after he had ________. During his time in prison, Bettinger played in a Böhse Onkelz cover band as well as a band associated with the Hells Angels MC that was known as 81.[3][4]

Andreas Bettinger is somewhat controversial due to his association with the National Socialist black metal (NSBM) music scene. Under the B.S.o.D. moniker, Bettinger has recorded music on a handful of different musical projects of his including Jew Atomizer, KampfkoloSS, Siegertyp, Corneus, Germania and ________ – all of which espouse either antisemitic, Hitlerist or _________ ideals.[5][6][7][8] When asked about his political views during a 2013 interview, Bettinger said that he had a "strange sympathy" for NS black metal music and is a fan of such bands as Burzum Absurd, Graveland and Kristallnacht but does not hold genuine neo-Nazi beliefs.[9]
