Updates and Release history

[edit]

Ancestris has choosen for an update system of small regular updates at a time. So it does not have big releases with many features and fault corrections every so many years. Changes are implemented in steps. New versions, or updates of Ancestris, are automatically detected at each start of Ancestris. And because updates are done regularly, sometimes many times a week, users can stay in sink if they want.

Ancestris therefor has the system of working with 2 versions of its program at the same time:

  • The so called "Stable Version". This is the version that is officially released at a certain date, and that, exept for real errors, does not change anymore. This version has an automatic install.
  • And the so called "Daily Version". This version starts right after the stable version is released, with a version number, one higher than the Stable Version. This version gets daily updates and additions. This daily version has the most recent additions and new features. When the Daily Version has reached a certain standard, it turns into the Stable Version.

Latest official stable release: Ancestris version 12, dated june - 8 - 2024.

New daily version: Ancestris version 13. Started on june - 8 - 2024, and updated 1 or more times a week.
