Anar Ibrahimov (Anar Adil oghlu Ibrahimov, in azerbaijani Anar Adil oğlu İbrahimov) (14.8.1976, Nakhchivan) - Acting Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (the highest official of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic)^[1], Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic^[2], deputy of the II, III, IV, V and VI convocations of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Former Chairman of the Council of Trade Unions of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic^[3], Acting Executive Director of the Fund for Support of Entrepreneurship of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Deputy Chairman of the Committee for State Antimonopoly Policy and Support of Entrepreneurship of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.

Life and education

Anar Ibrahimov was born in Nakhchivan on 14 August 1976. From 1983-1993 he received his secondary education at the Russian Secondary School No. 3 named after Veli Zeynalov in Nakhchivan. In 1993-1997 he studied at the Faculty of Social and Political Relations - Political Science at the Baku Institute of Social Administration and Political Science (BISAP - currently the Academy of State Administration under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan) and graduated with a specialisation in Political Science. In 2017, he graduated from the Faculty of Political Science of Sakarya University (Turkey) with a Master's degree in Public Administration. Anar Ibrahimov received the rank of lieutenant in 1996 and is a reserve officer. In 1997, Anar Ibrahimov worked as a leading specialist of the Committee for State Antimonopoly Policy and Support of Entrepreneurship of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and in 1998 - as the Head of Department of this Committee.

In the Supreme Majlis

From 2004 to 2024 he was a deputy of the Supreme Majlis from the New Azerbaijan Party (he was a deputy in 5 convocations). In the Supreme Majlis he was a member of the Commission on Legal Policy and State Building, then in 2010 - 2023 he was the Chairman of the Committee on Human Rights, International and Interparliamentary Relations. On 16 May 2023 he was elected Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Following the resignation of the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Majlis Azer Zeynalov, Anar Ibrahimov has been acting Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (the highest official of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic) since 5 October 2023.

In the Council of Europe and other European platforms

Since May 2006, Anar Ibrahimov has headed the Azerbaijani national delegation to the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe and is a member of the organisation's Statutory and Monitoring Committee. Since 2011, he has been a member of the Conference of Local and Regional Authorities of the European Union-Eastern Partnership (CORLEAP) from the Republic of Azerbaijan. He has been a member of the CORLEAP Bureau since 2011 and has been elected twice (in 2015-2016 and 2019-2020) as CORLEAP Co-President.

Party activities

Anar Ibrahimov is a member of the Yeni Azerbaijan Party (New Azerbaijan Party). In 2001-2021 he was the Executive Secretary of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republican Organisation of the New Azerbaijan Party, as well as a member of the Political Council and the Board of Directors of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republican Organisation of the New Azerbaijan Party, and since November 2021 he has been the Deputy Chairman - Chief of Staff of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republican Organisation of the New Azerbaijan Party.

Awards

He was awarded the medal "100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev (1923-2023)" by the decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on 2 February 2024.
