Amir Hakim Bappy (Bengali: আমির হাকিম বাপ্পী; born 11 March 2001) is a Bangladeshi professional footballer who plays as a left-winger or left midfielder for Bangladesh Premier League club Dhaka Wanderers.
Club career
[edit]After failing to make the final cut of the top 20 selected players during the Airtel Rising Star trial in 2013, Bappy relocated to Dhaka and joined Uttar Baridhara. There, he showcased his talent by scoring two goals for the team in the BFF U-18 Football Tournament. In the 2015–16 season, he emerged as the leading scorer in the Dhaka Third Division Football League, netting an impressive 17 goals for the eventual runners-up, Khilgaon FA.[1]
In 2016, he played professionally for Kawran Bazar PS in the 2017 Bangladesh Championship League.[1] In 2017, he joined Agrani Bank Ltd in the Championship, following Kawran Bazar's relegation. He scored 7 goals in his debut season for the club, including one against league champions Bashundhara Kings on 4 November 2017.[2] Nonetheless, after the Bankers missed out on promotion, Bappy joined Mohammedan SC for the 2018–19 Bangladesh Premier League.[1]
13 February 2019, Bappy scored his first goal for the club against Saif SC. Bappy who began his career as a central striker, finished his first season with the Black and Whites playing majority of the games as an attacking midfielder.[1] In his second season, he scored 4 goals in 20 league games, including one during a 4–1 demolition of Uttar Baridhara on 17 July 2021.[3]
International career
[edit]In 2019, Bappy represented the youth national team at both the 2019 SAFF U-18 Championship and the 2020 AFC U-19 Championship qualifiers.[1][4][5]
In 2023, he returned to international football by representing Bangladesh U23 during the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifiers held in Chonburi, Thailand.[6]
