Mount Murresse

The Alto Malema hydropower plant (HPP), is a proposed hydroelectric project planned for the Malema River in the border area between the Nampula Province and Zambezia Province in Mozambique. The nearest city is Gurúè and the nearest metropolitan area is Nampula. Since the 1970s, studies have explored the potential for hydropower development in this area.[1] [2]

Currently, the project is in the feasibility stage, led by a British company assessing the optimal construction approach for the plant. The feasibility study is expected to take up to two years, with construction projected to begin in 2026.
